At a minimum, all candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Also, all candidates must be U.S. citizens, have a driver's license, and must not have been convicted of a felony criminal charge. Candidates can be less than 21 years old to apply, but will not be eligible for appointment until their 21st birthday. Applicants will be required to pass a physical fitness test as part of the hiring process but do not need to pass physical fitnes test to apply.

Video Camera Registration

The Waterbury Police Department is asking residents and business owners to voluntarily register their privately-owned surveillance camera systems to help investigators solve crimes faster and boost safety in the community.

The Waterbury Police Department strives to proactively work toward reducing crime to keep the community safe. Part of this proactive stance is through gathering data on crimes in order to best inform the community we serve, and effectively utilize police resources.
