Captain Edward Daponte joined the Waterbury Police Department in October of 1989. In October 1997 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned as the Records Division supervisor. In July of 2004 he was promoted to the rank and assigned as Commanding Officer of the Records and Property and Evidence Divisions. In May of 2008 he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as the day shift commander in the Patrol Division. In July 2009 he was reassigned to the position of Administrative Captain.
Captain Daponte received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Post University. He has completed career training in Supervision, Management, Internal Affairs, and Freedom of Information. He is a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Command Institute, the FBI New England Law Enforcement Executive Development, and the Southern Police Institute Executive Leadership Course. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Waterbury Police Activity League and the Waterbury Police Department Explorers. In 1993 he was honored with the Waterbury Police Department Medal of Commendation.
