Waterbury Vice and Intelligence Division

The Waterbury Vice and Intelligence Division is comprised of two major components, the Vice Squad Detectives and Street Crimes Unit Officers. Currently, there are 2 supervisors, 6 Detectives and 8 Officers assigned to the Divison. The Vice & Intelligence Unit is responsible for collecting and disseminating drug-related criminal intelligence information.

The Vice and Intelligence Division Officers are responsible for investigating narcotic related crimes, gang activity, crimes of prostitution, liquor violations, weapons offenses and gambling. The Vice and Intelligence Division collects and develops information regarding individuals and groups of individuals involved in criminal activities.

Vice Squad

Members of the Waterbury Police Vice Squad are responsible for investigating narcotic related crimes, gang activity, crimes of prostitution, liquor violations, weapons offenses and gambling. The Vice and Intelligence Division collects and develops information regarding individuals and groups of individuals involved in criminal activities.

Over the years, the Vice Squad made many upgrades to tactical and surveillance equipment and Officers have been able to attend new and advanced training courses.  The purpose of these upgrades and training are to effectively equip personnel with valuable resources and intelligence to combat current trends and methods of criminal activities that the unit faces.

Street Crimes Unit

The full-time mission of the Street Crimes Unit is to address quality of life issues affecting both the image and atmosphere in which the citizens of Waterbury live and conduct business as well as establishing safety in neighborhoods. 

The Street Crimes Unit saturates high-crime areas in an effort to identify and to arrest street level narcotics dealers through the use of proactive patrols and surveillance. The Street Crimes Unit serves as the entry team for Vice Squad search warrants and serves outstanding arrest warrants including high-risk arrest warrants.
