Waterbury Public Information Officer

The Public Information Officer (PIO) is a sworn member of the Waterbury Police Department, appointed by the Chief of Police, who serves as a central source of information for the release by the Waterbury Police Department and responds to requests for information by the news media and the public.

Public Information Officer Duties

Maintains effective working relationships with local media organizations.

Assists in covering routine news stories and arranges for local news conferences.

Assists in crisis situations as a communication liaison between department members and external agencies.

Coordinates the release of authorized information concerning investigations and operations.
