Partner Organizations
Working Together for a Safer Waterbury
The Waterbury Police Department works closely with many partner organizations. These are valued relationships and an integral part of the community as mutual trust and cooperation are developed and cultivated, furthering the mission of the Waterbury Police Department. The benefits of partnerships between police departments and organizations are endless, including bringing an increased awareness of police activities and functions to the general public. Conversely, the Waterbury Police Department has increased awareness of the community served.

Waterbury Police Activity League (PAL)
The Waterbury Police Activity League (PAL) is a nonprofit organization that builds partnerships between youth, law enforcement, and the community through educational, athletic, and recreational programs. Welcoming young people ages 4–17 from the Greater Waterbury area—regardless of race, religion, income, or ability—PAL encourages teamwork, learning, and positive relationships to help every participant reach their full potential as caring, responsible citizens.
The program is supported by 5 sworn police officers and numerous volunteers, both civilian and police, who dedicate their time to its success. PAL’s facilities include PAL Park, a greenhouse, and garden areas, offering unique spaces to enhance youth programs.
Waterbury Police Cadets
Open to young adults ages 11–21, the Waterbury Police Cadets program introduces participants to the field of law enforcement through hands-on experience, classroom instruction, and physical training. Cadets work alongside civilian staff and sworn officers, gaining insight into police work, building leadership skills, encouraging academic excellence, and fostering teamwork and volunteerism.
Guided by dedicated officers and volunteers, the program helps youth make informed career choices while strengthening community relationships.
