WATERBURY POLICE CRIME PREVENTION UNIT ARRESTS TWO FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP

On January 29, 2026, officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit were proactively patrolling the area of Grant Street and Branch Street and conducted a traffic stop due to several traffic violations. During the investigation the following items were seized:
- Drug Paraphernalia
- Cocaine/Crack Cocaine
- Taurus G3 9mm (Firearm)
The operator, Damian Rodriguez, age 21, of Waterbury, was arrested without incident and charged with the following offenses:
- Improper parking
- Illegal Window Tints
- Weapons in a Motor Vehicle
- Illegal Sale/Transfer of a Firearm
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Carrying a Firearm without a Permit
- Possession in a School Zone (2 Counts)
- Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine
- Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License
- Possession of Narcotics with Intent to sell (2 Counts
The passenger, Nicholas Bonet, 35, of Waterbury was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession in a School Zone (2 Counts)
- Possession of Narcotics with Intent to sell (2 counts)
