The Criminal Investigations Bureau is home to specialized units that gather and analyze criminal intelligence, investigate serious crimes, and support patrol operations through expert case work. From conducting interviews and executing warrants to working with federal task forces and addressing quality-of-life concerns, these dedicated teams—including the Detective Division and Vice & Intelligence Division—use advanced skills, specialized training, and strong partnerships to protect the community and bring offenders to justice.

Criminal Investigations
Detectives in the Criminal Investigation Division gather and analyze information on criminal activity, support patrol officers, conduct interviews, execute warrants, apprehend suspects, and testify in court.

Vice & Intelligence
The Vice and Intelligence Division, made up of Vice Squad Detectives and Street Crimes Unit Officers, gathers and shares drug-related criminal intelligence while partnering with outside agencies to address evolving criminal activity in Waterbury.

Juvenile Division
The Juvenile Division investigates cases involving individuals under 18 and works closely with School Resource Officers to support positive outcomes. With a focus on prevention, education, and safety, the division partners with schools, families, and community programs to protect and guide Waterbury’s youth.
