Eligibility Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • 21 Years of Age
  • Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Must submit a copy with Application)
  • Background Suitable for Employment as a Police Officer
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum Fitness Requirement
  • Must complete the CPCA Exam
  • Optional but recommended: Complete the CHIP Physical Fitness Test

The Waterbury Police Training Academy combines classroom instruction, practical exercises, and physical conditioning to prepare recruits for real-world policing. With over 1,000 hours of training led by experienced officers and subject matter experts, the Academy ensures graduates are ready to serve with skill and professionalism.
