SUSPECT IDENTIFIED IN GROVE STREET HOMICIDE

Waterbury resident Kendren Barnes, 47, has been identified as one of the individuals involved in a physical disturbance that took place at 144 Grove Street, Dec. 27th, which left one victim dead. Today, Dec. 29th, 2025, Barnes was taken into custody and charged with Murder.

He has been turned over to court and was given a bond of $2.5 million. Barnes has an extensive
history of violence and is frequently arrested.

Recap:
On Dec. 27th, 2025, at 7:17 p.m., Waterbury Police Patrol Officers responded to 144 Grove Street for reports of a physical altercation between parties in of the building involving a weapon.

Upon arrival, officers located two male victims on scene who sustained wounds that were indicative of being inflicted by an edged weapon. Both were transported to local area hospitals.
One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries.
Currently, this incident appears to be an isolated event between several individuals. There are no
active threats to the public or residents of the building. Officers and detectives are actively investigating this open investigation.
