Waterbury Police Crime Prevention Unit Arrests Suspect After Fleeing Traffic Stop
On June 24, 2026, officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit were assisting the Meriden Police Department with an investigation involving a vehicle that was reportedly involved in an armed robbery in Meriden, CT and a shooting in Middletown, CT earlier this month.
Officers located the vehicle in the area of Prospect Street and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle attempted to flee and struck a police cruiser. The driver, later identified as Justice Roman, 23, of Middletown, was apprehended.
During the investigation the following items were seized:
- Ammunition
- AM M15 (Rifle)
- Glock G19 9mm
- Drug Paraphernalia
- 38.6 Grams of Cocaine
Roman was charged with the following:
- Operating a Drug Factory
- Interfering with an Officer
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Criminal Possession of a Pistol/Revolver
- Illegal Transfer of a Firearm (2 counts)
- Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine (2 counts)
- Carrying Pistol without a Permit (2 counts)
- Possession of an Assault Weapon
- Weapons in a motor vehicle (2 counts)
- Possession of 1 Half oz or more of Cocaine in Free-base Form
- Reckless Driving and Driving without a License.
It should be noted: Roman is a convicted felon and is prohibited form possessing any firearms and/or ammunition.
