Bronx Man Arrested in a Shots-Fired Incident in Waterbury
On June 28, 2026, at 1:53 p.m., Waterbury Police Officers responded to the area of Chase Ave and Cooke Street for a report of shots fired. There, officers located several spent shell casings in the roadway. No property damage was observed to the surrounding area. There were no reported victims, nor were there any victims located. Officers learned throughout the course of the investigation that a male party had discharged a firearm into the air during an isolated disturbance.
Officers identified the suspect of this incident as William Pichardo, 51, of the Bronx, NY. Pichardo was taken into custody and charged in violation of:
-Breach of Peace in the Second Degree
-Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm
-Possession of a Stolen Firearm
-Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree
-Illegal Sale and Transfer of a Firearm
-Carrying of Pistol/Revolver without a Permit
Pichardo was given a $500k bond and is set to be arraigned at court tomorrow at 9 a.m.
